About the Congregation at Providence
You can find out a little bit about our community in the following sections. We are a mix of longtime members and some recent additions to the community. Please feel free to email, call or visit to learn more about us and about whether you would like to walk with us as we follow our Lord Jesus.
Core Beliefs
Our central statements of faith are the Apostle's and Nicene Creeds. We affirm the inspiration and authority of Holy Scripture, and receive and interpret the Scriptures in submission to the consensus of the historic Church. This standard applies to our beliefs and teaching regarding both doctrine and morality.
Services
Our weekly service of morning prayer is at 9:45 am. The first Sunday of each month we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion. We also celebrate communion on significant days of the Church year, (Christmas, Easter, Trinity Sunday, etc.).
Sunday School
An active Sunday School class provides an opportunity for learning and discussion as adults interact with a weekly scripture topic. This is a lay-led study, and several members of the Congregation take turns in rotation leading the study.
Bible Study
On Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm., Rev. Taranto leads a Bible study through books of the Bible or through passages related to a theological topic. The study meets most weeks throughout the year, with a break in the summer.
Joy Circle
Our church is blessed by an active and capable group of women who serve both the congregation and the community. If you are interested in charitable work, outreach to families in need, or helping with aspects of special services, this is a wonderful group to participate in! The Joy Circle usually meets the second Tuesday of the month, excepting June through August.
About the Pastor
Providence is served by the Rev. Dominic Taranto. Rev. Taranto is a graduate of Biola University and Talbot School of Theology, holds a Master's Degree in Philosophy, and is an ordained priest in the Reformed Episcopal Church. He can be reached at revtaranto@icloud.com if you have any questions about the parish or the faith.
